FractionalOrder sm is a division of the New Renaissance Institute www.newrenaissanceinstitute.com
FractionalOrder performs research, theory, design, and development of selected fractional order constructs in physical systems, signal processing, and pure mathematics.
In the area of physical systems, FractionalOrder activities are directed to systems, technologies and processes modeled with fractional powers of operators and operations. This includes continuously-distributed systems (transmission lines, dye lasers, parasitic phenomena in integrated circuits, etc.), fractional noises and power laws, “active media” in chemical and biological systems, as well as limiting phenonmena of large-scale systems. Work here includes system dynamics, classification, and control theory. Related modeling includes work involving infinite-order differential equations.
In the area of signal processing, FractionalOrder activities are directed to signal processing systems and methods involving fractional powers of operators and specific classes of infinite-order differential equations. This includes signal processing adaptations of the physical systems work described above and Fractional Fourier Transform applications in physical and computational optics.
In the area of pure mathematics, FractionalOrder activities are directed to fractional-dimensional structures (fractional spaces, fractional sets, fractional graph theory, and related aspects of fractals), fractional powers of operators, fractional calculus, fractional operator equations, fractionally-indexed algebraic structures, and continuous geometries of operator algebras and orthomodular lattices.
FractionalOrder has several active patent applications and a joint development contract. Its future outputs are to include invention, design, analysis and reports disseminated in the form of patents, books, journal articles, online articles, lectures, and seminars in connection therewith.
FractionalOrder is open to grants, joint research, joint development, and special projects. Please send inquiries to inquires@fractionalorder.com
